What do you do now?  The questions that go through your mind when you have been in an accident.  Once the initial shock wears off you need to follow some steps to ensure that you are taken care of.

The City of Edmonton has roughly  25000 collisions reported a year, or 68 a day.  Many people do not know what to do when it happens.  Do you know what to do?
  1.  Ensure your safety for yourself, passengers and bystanders.
  2. Place the vehicle in PARK and TURN OFF the motor.
  3. Use your cell phone, if you have one, to report the accident.  Try to be as clear as possible and give the best information you have in regards to what has happened and where you are, fluids down, number of vehicles involved, Etc..
      4. When safe to do so.  Exit the vehicle and check            on the other  people involved in the collision.
      5. If you have a cell phone, we recommend                      taking pictures of the vehicles, including                        licence plates and of the other drivers                            information, Drivers Licence and insurance                    information.

If you have to let the tow truck take your vehicle don't forget to remove your personal belongings.  Who knows when you will get them back. So grab the garage door opener, Passes for your parking for work or home, Phone chargers, glasses, money.  If you were in an accident please leave the police sticker in the window.  Give the keys to the Tow Truck driver so that he can drop them off with the vehicle.  The shop you are getting it towed to will need them.
